  • Dimensions (2D – 10D): You will often hear terms like 2D, 3D, or 4D. This refers to the number of individual lashes in a single fan. A 2D fan has two lashes; a 10D fan has ten, creating a highly dramatic look.


  • Creation Methods: Fans can be hand-crafted by the technician using tweezers (the "pinching" method) or purchased as pre-made fans. While pre-made fans save time, hand-making fans allows for greater customization, though it requires advanced dexterity.

  • Duration: A full set is an intricate process that cannot be rushed. Expect appointments to last between 1.5 to 2:30 hours, depending on the desired volume (e.g., a mega-volume look takes longer).

  • Maintenance: Infills (top-ups) are usually booked 90 minute slots, every 4 weeks.


Safety Protocols


  • Patch Testing: A patch test is non-negotiable and must be performed at least 48 hours before treatment to prevent allergic reactions.


  • Natural Lash Health: A common myth is that volume lashes damage natural lashes. In reality, because the fibers are so light, they can be safer than heavy classic lashes. If applied correctly with the right weight distribution, they do not stress the natural lash follicle.


Longevity and Aftercare


With proper application, Russian Lashes can last up to 8 weeks (the full cycle of a natural lash). However, to keep them looking full and uniform, infills are recommended every 3–4 weeks.


To maximize retention, clients must follow strict aftercare rules:


  1. The 48-Hour Rule: Avoid getting lashes wet for the first 24–48 hours to allow the adhesive to fully cure.

  2. Avoid Oils: Do not use oil-based makeup removers or skincare around the eyes, as oil breaks down the lash adhesive.

  3. Sleep Position: Try to sleep on your back. A silk pillowcase is recommended to reduce friction.

  4. Hands Off: Avoid rubbing, tugging, or pulling the lashes.

  5. No Mascara: Mascara is generally unnecessary due to the volume. If you must use it, stick to a water-based formula applied only to the tips.


Removal


Never attempt to remove extensions yourself. Pulling them off will damage your natural lashes. Always visit a professional lash artist for a safe removal process using specialized solvents.
