Pre-Made Fans: A Game Changer in Eyelashes Extensions

How I Became a Fan (Pun Intended) for Volume Lashes

I want to share my journey of how I became a fan (pun intended) of pre-made fans. When I first started working with eyelash extensions, everyone was all about those dramatic volume lashes, and the classic ones were hardly requested. It was frustrating because hand-making fans took forever, and I felt like I was missing out on the lash game.

But then, I discovered the world of pre-made fans. Back then, there weren't many options available, and it took me a while to find ones that met my quality standards and delivered the Russian Volume look I was after.

After trying out different brands, I finally found my go-to favorites that I still use to this day.

Handmade fans vs. pre-made fans

Now, let's get into the great debate: handmade fans vs. pre-made fans. Handmade fans are all about that custom look, tailored to each client's unique lashes. They offer endless possibilities, from full and fluffy to light and wispy. The downside? It takes time and practice to master the art of creating them, and it can eat up a lot of time during appointments.

On the other hand, pre-made fans have come a long way from the heavy clusters of the past. They're now lightweight, safe for natural lashes, and can save a ton of time during appointments. The trade-off is that they're not as customizable as handmade fans.

So, which one should you choose? It really depends on your experience level, your client's preferences, and the time you have for each appointment. Having pre-made fans on hand can be a lifesaver for those last-minute or time-crunched situations.

In the end, both handmade and pre-made fans have their pros and cons. It's all about finding the right balance for you and your clients. And hey, using one or the other doesn’t make you a better professional, so don’t let the market or old-school pros tell you otherwise!

Let Me Spill the Tea on My Top Pre-Made Fan Choices!

I've chosen to work with three styles of pre-made fans. First, there's the 3D D with a diameter of 0.05mm. I love using these for creating natural volume effects that are lighter and more elegant.

Then there's the 6D CC also with a diameter of 0.05mm, which I use for the majority of my volume work.

And finally, there's the 6D D with a diameter of 0.07mm, which I turn to when I want to create denser and more dramatic volumes.

One of the things I really enjoy is mixing different curvatures to create a variety of textures and densities. For example, I might use 6D D on the bottom layer and 6D CC on the top layer, creating an effect where the curvatures meet and using length reduction to create a top line (usually going down by 1 or 2 sizes on the top-line when working with D on the bottom and CC on top).

In addition to these, I also have 0.03 and 0.04 lashes in my arsenal that I use to create a wet lash look, aka Angel Set, but that's a conversation I'll save for another post.

I've found that this combination of pre-made fans and mixing curvatures has really elevated my work, allowing me to create more dynamic and customized looks for my clients. It's all about finding what works best for you and your clients, and for me, this approach has been a game-changer.

I'm always experimenting and trying new techniques, so who knows what I'll be working with in the future! But for now, I'm loving the results I'm getting with this approach.

Stay tuned for more lash talk in the next post!
